Axios, citing American officials, reported that the United States and Iran have reached an agreement, but it is still awaiting final approval from US President Donald Trump.
He pointed to the agreement on a 60-day memorandum of understanding, which includes extending the ceasefire and launching negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program.
He pointed out that the agreement with Iran includes an Iranian commitment not to seek to possess a nuclear weapon, in exchange for lifting the naval blockade on Iran during the implementation period.
He added that the terms of the deal were reached on Tuesday, but the leadership of the two countries had not yet ratified it, while Iranian officials informed the American negotiators that they had obtained the necessary approvals to sign the memorandum of understanding.
Axios also reported that Trump told the mediators that he wanted a few days to think before making a final decision.
